The sea is an important resource of the territory also for what concerns the catch.
The first aquaculture plants were born in the Phlegraean Fields with the ancient Romans. In addition to fishing, fish farming and mussel farming, today it is also important to aim at transformation, aiming at the circular economy, beyond km 0, also for all the fish that can be used both for what is directly transformed and for alternative uses, a little 'how it should work for the waste issue. To bridge the gap between what is produced and what is consumed in the area, some projects have been launched which involve the local community. The Fisheries Local Action Groups of the territory of the Phlegraean Peninsula sees the participation of the Municipalities of Pozzuoli, Bacoli and Monte di Procida as well as a large number of partners. With executive decree of 02 August 2016 n. 129, the Campania Region has launched actions to support local development strategies among the maritime industries through the involvement and active participation of local, public and private partnerships. The Feamp, the new European Fund for the fishing sector, in recent years has assigned a central role to small-scale fishing companies, whose number is taken as a unit of measurement for the allocation of funds.
